History:
Originally from the Church of Bimont (Lot-et-Garonne) “anc. coll” of the Marquis of Saint Lever Daguerre. These four capitals with their abacuses, columns and bases were, as indicated by their form, originally placed against a wall.
The abacuses are all similarly decorated, three with floral motifs and one with animal motifs. Each capital, however, has it’s own decoration: pairs of birds face-to-face, imaginary animals, double row of denticulated leaves and riders facing backwards on their mounts, holding hands.
Today at the Louvre Museum Abu Dhabi.
